Privacy policy.

What we collect.

We collect the minimum we need to run the site:

• Account email and name when you create an account or submit a band. This is used to contact you about your submission and to let you edit your profile later.
• Submission content (band name, bio, genre, city, photos, social links, booking email). Once approved, this is published on the site at the public band URL. You can edit or remove it at any time.
• IP address on form submissions, briefly, for rate limiting and abuse prevention.
• Analytics via Google Analytics 4. We anonymize IPs in the GA configuration. We do not sell GA data and we do not run advertising on this site.

What we do not do.

• We do not sell your data to anyone, for any reason.
• We do not run third-party ad networks on the site.
• We do not use your email for marketing without your explicit opt-in.
• We do not store passwords in plain text. They are hashed with bcrypt.

Cookies.

We use a session cookie when you are signed in. Google Analytics sets its own cookies for traffic measurement. That is it.

Email from us.

Transactional only: submission confirmations, approval notifications, account password resets. No newsletter yet. If we add one, it will be opt-in.

Your rights.

You can delete your account at any time. Once deleted, your band profile is unpublished and the account row is removed. Cached copies in search engines may take a few weeks to clear. Email us if you need anything removed faster.

Sharing across our sites.

Ventura County Music shares its database and account system with Ventura County Local. Signing into either site signs you into both. Account-level data is shared between the two sites only. Submissions you make on one site stay on that site.
